Modern townhomes near Belmont, Charlotte.
Belmont the Charlotte neighborhood, not the Gaston County town: what the new townhomes being built in and around it look like, what they have sold for, and which ones have a rooftop. Including ours, a few blocks west across the greenway.

Where
Belmont, the one inside Charlotte.
Belmont sits east of Parkwood Avenue and the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, south of NoDa and north of Plaza Midwood, roughly two miles from Uptown. It was a mill village: Harrill, Pegram, Belmont Avenue and the numbered streets are lined with 1910s and 1920s cottages, and the last few years have added three-story townhomes on the lots that came up for sale.
The reason buyers search for townhomes 'near' Belmont rather than in it is that the new product straddles the neighborhood lines. Optimist Park is across the greenway to the west, Villa Heights to the north, Plaza Midwood to the south. A listing portal may file the same home under any of them. Ours at East 16th Street are on the Optimist Park side of Parkwood; homes.com files them under Belmont. Either way the walk to Optimist Hall is the same.

How to read it
What the prices are telling you.
Three bedrooms without a view costs about what two bedrooms with one does. The Harrill Street homes at $625,000 to $650,000 are three-bedroom plans with a one-car garage. Our interior homes at $591,000 are two bedrooms with a two-car garage and a rooftop terrace facing Uptown. Decide which of those you will use every day.
Rooftops are standard now; skyline is not. Several Belmont townhomes advertise a rooftop terrace. Whether it sees Uptown depends on the lot and what stands between you and it. Ask for a photo taken from the roof. We put ours at the top of this page.
Where we sit, honestly. East 16th Street is two bedrooms, not three. What you get for the money is a 2026 build, a published terrace size with the skyline on one side and the greenway's green space on the other, an attached two-car garage, and Optimist Hall and the Parkwood light-rail station on foot. 5 of the seven are finished and for sale; the floor plans, photos and per-home prices are on the project page.

Questions
Is Belmont in Charlotte the same as Belmont, NC?
No. Belmont the neighborhood is inside Charlotte, east of Optimist Park and south of NoDa, a mile or two from Uptown. Belmont the town is in Gaston County, about twenty minutes west across the Catawba River. Search results mix them up constantly. Everything on this page is the Charlotte neighborhood.
What does a new townhome near Belmont cost?
On November 3, 2026, new and recent townhomes in and around Belmont were listed or had sold between about $550,000 and $770,000. Three-bedroom plans without a skyline view sit in the low to mid $600s. Our two-bedroom East 16th Street homes are $591,000 to $768,000 with a rooftop terrace facing Uptown and a two-car garage.
Why are the new townhomes 'modern' when the neighborhood is 1920s mill houses?
Because the lots that come up for sale are narrow, and a three-story townhome with a flat or low-slope roof is the shape that fits a narrow lot and still gets a two-car garage and a rooftop. Brick, standing-seam metal, black windows and board-and-batten are the usual palette. Belmont's older houses are mostly one-story bungalows and mill cottages; the new product reads as a different generation, and it is.
Is Belmont safe?
CMPD publishes citywide numbers (down in 2026) and no neighborhood-level statistic, so any Belmont-specific crime score you read online is an estimate by a listing site, not police data. Our honest suggestion: walk Parkwood, Harrill and Belmont Avenue on a weeknight evening and decide for yourself.
How close is Belmont to Optimist Hall and the light rail?
The western edge of Belmont is the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, and Optimist Hall and the Parkwood Blue Line station sit just across it. From much of the neighborhood both are a ten to fifteen minute walk. Our East 16th Street homes are on the Optimist Park side of that line, a few blocks from Optimist Hall.
